I never thought I would be able to say that I ate food from a food
truck! Something about food trucks always seemed dirty and disease
filled to me. Well, last Friday one of my good friends, Gloria, asked if Daniel
and I wanted to go to "First Friday" with them. I had no idea what she
was talking about but a quick google search told me everything I needed
to know. Every first Friday of the month in the Santa Monica/Venice
area, dozens of food trucks align the sides of this one street and
people just stroll up and down eating anything and everything you can
imagine. Yelp reviews told us that the most popular food truck was this
one:

A food truck dedicated to nothing but making fabulous grilled cheese sandwiches! Not just your average cheese and bread though. Daniel and James both got their classic "melt' which was loaded with mac and cheese, and pulled bbq rib. They licked their fingers clean and would have gone back for seconds (and probably thirds) if the line wasn't outrageously long! I had a bite and can vouch that it was delicious. Heavy, cheesy, rich, loaded with calories and delicious. They also had fancier sandwiches made with brie cheese and cranberry walnut bread...maybe next time I will starve myself for the day so I can eat that for dinner :)
Gloria and I roamed up and down the street while the boys were in line
for their food. There were sooo many trucks to choose from! I wanted to
try something different than a hotdog or a hamburger since you can get
those anywhere. We came across a Thai food truck that had mango steak
wraps that looked amazing on the picture. Sadly they didn't taste as
good as they looked and we were kinda wishing we had spent the 8 dollars
on something/anything else. Regardless though it was a ton of fun and I
recommend it to anyone in the LA area! It is definitely one of those
only-in-LA moments which don't come around too often. We are going to
try and do more city-like things this year while we are still around.
Who knows where we will be next!
Fun night!
