4 Months!

Stats:
Height: 25 1/2 inches
Weight: 12 lbs 4 oz
Likes: Blowing Rasberries with her lips, rolling over the moment we put her on her back, looking at herself in the mirror, watching people eat, and tylenol :)
Dislikes: When her bottle is empty, how when eating rice cereal you have to stop and swallow in between bites, being held while sitting down
Wears: Size 1 diapers, size 3-6 month clothes, and some 0-3 month as well.
Things I love: When she gets excited she squeezes her eyes shut, makes her hands into little fists and squeals the cutest little high pitched squeal. I hope she doesn't lose this trick for a very long time!

One of my favorite pictures. She is so happy with Daddy ALL the time!
Loves water!
Give me a minute...
 Okay I'm ready!

We got more shots at our doctors appt this week which is always super fun! Evalyn was a champ though and hardly cried after it was all over with. She is sleeping 8-9 hours at a time, waking up to eat, and going back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. Not too shabby! We are so excited to spend the holidays with this little cutie. Hope everyone has a great holiday break!

This month in pictures

Ev and I went on a run for the first time in her Chariot. I can't think of a better name for this stroller. She sits in it like a queen does riding her massive chariot! We love it--thanks Grandma Jaylene!
I got to see Breaking Dawn in Oceanside with my awesome SIL's :) It was cheesy but good like usual.
Ev was a cowgirl on Halloween :)
Daniel got his boards score! Phew! Ortho school is still in our future plans :)
Evalyn was happy one night after a bath..yes, her eyes are massive and I love them!
I found a way to allow myself ten minutes to get ready in the morning. Don't worry, that mullet has since been removed.
Ev wore these fancy leggings from Auntie Alexa! We just had to safety pin the waist and they were great! Did I mention they are size 6-12 months?

Hope everyone had a good month of November. Next post--Thanksgiving update!

1st Pinterest Attempt

Like most of not all of you bloggers--I spend way too much time on Pinterest. (Don't deny it..you do too). I'm constantly finding things that I need to bake, want to recreate, or I get just lost in the daydream of a home I want to own someday. Well, I saw a little piece of jewelry that I thought was unique/weird/kinda cute.

Heres a picture of the original:

It's a bracelet made from a fork! Cute, yes? Well, I thought I would recreate it. When my dear husband came home he found a "bracelet" on the couch that looked something like this:

(Not quite what I was going for)

Let's just say that its a lot harder to bend metal than I thought it would be. I swear I have bent forks more than this on accident during dinner. Needless to say, Daniel got home and asked what had happened to our fork. When I showed him the picture of what I was attempting to make, he said "Oh. I can do that. That's easy". HA!

30 minutes and a pair of pliers later, he tells me he is done and hands me my "gift".

Hilarious. We both couldn't stop laughing for a good ten minutes. Thanks for the attempt love, I think I'll save that bracelet for a special occasion...it's just too nice to wear everyday ;)

Least I can say I actually tried something I found on Pinterest, right?

3 Months!

I know Ev, I can't believe it either!

Stats:
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 11 lbs 8 oz
Likes: Standing on people's laps, sucking on her fingers, talking to herself (suddenly by quiet baby is VERY loud!), smiling, bath time, and playing with her dad. She still hasn't really laughed for me but Daniel can get her to do it all the time!
Dislikes: Her carseat, not being able to roll over, velcro
Wears: Size 1 diapers, size 0-3 month clothes..with a few newborns here and there. She is so long though that she literally ripped out the foot in one of her jammies when she stretched one morning. HA! Cheap jammies and a strong baby is a bad combo.

This month we went to Big Bear Lake to celebrate Daniel taking the boards exam! Ev has become quite the little traveler in her short existence. I am looking forward to being at home for the next while and *hopefully* getting her on a better schedule!

D-day

At this moment Daniel is taking the Boards exam..ahhh. I am sitting at home feeling super nervous/anxious for him! It's been a long time coming and he has been preparing for this day for months--about 6 months to be exact. I'm SOOO excited for this exam to be over and done with and to have my husband back! No more 14 hour study days, he will mentally be present when he is at home with me, he will start sleeping, get to see Ev and me more, etc etc. EEEEK! It's going to be strange to have a husband again..but I'm excited :)

Cheers to freedom! We are off to Big Bear Lake this weekend to celebrate!

Utah

Oh heeeeey!

For the first 3 weeks in October, Evalyn and I headed to Utah to let Daniel study without distractions for his National Board exam. It was a loooong time to be away from my husband, but I know it helped him focus. We had a fun time being with my family though! We even got to be there for baby Colby's arrival! I can't believe I finally have a nephew! He is the cutest little guy ever! Who would have thought my blonde sister and her matching blonde head husband would have a baby with super dark brown hair? I'm sure it won't be brown for long though :)
Buddies
(I hadn't realized how much bigger E's head had gotten until seeing him!)
Happy girl!
How is she still so pretty at 40+ weeks pregnant?
We carved pumpkins..well, Shane and Alex did. Kay and I watched :)
Such a good cousin!
Alex came for a visit! 1st time seeing her in almost 2 years!

It was a super fun trip but I was more than ready to come back home to LA and to my husband. I think that was the first time I was ever excited to come back to California! Ha! Only took me 2 years and a month on my own to feel that way..progress :)

Family Pictures

I love family photos. My good friend Emily shot a few pictures of us at the Santa Monica Pier before I went to Utah for 3 weeks. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! You can take a look at how talented she is here.

Love my family of 3!

2 Months!

Evalyn had her 2 month checkup on the 29th of September. I had been dreading the 2 month checkup her whole little life. What mama wants to watch her little girl get her first set of shots? Not me--so I didn't. I was a wimp and made Daniel stay in the room with her while I stepped out for the moment. She was a trooper though! (Tylenol works wonders!) Here are her two month stats:

Stats:
Height: 23 1/2 inches
Weight: 9 lbs 15 oz
Likes: Her hands--scratches on her face seem inevitable these days, bath time, food, being swaddled, her play mat (best $50 I have ever spent), her pacifier--only if she's tired, being bounced, and TV. This girl LOOOOVES tv!
Dislikes: The sound of velcro, her carseat, when her bottle is empty (cries EVERY time without fail), sleeping without being held. Ha. And I dislike THAT.
Wears: Size 1 diapers, size 0-3 month clothes..with a few newborns here and there. She is so long though we will be going on a shopping trip shortly!

Being parents has been such a fun learning experience for us. If you see her 1 month statistics, she was eating about 5-6 oz a meal. Well, when she was 5 weeks old my Dr. told me that was wayyy too much food for a tiny girl like her (oops) and made me cut back. Fine with me since the little peanut was throwing most of it up anyway! (Hence the too much food part!) Anyway, since this new eating pattern has been introduced we have one happy little girl on our hands! Now if we could only get her to sleep through the night.. :)

Evalyn's Blessing Day

Oh my goodness. I have SO much to blog about! First things first. In September we were able to go to Utah to celebrate Daniel's brother Shane getting married. Shane and Sidni got married on the 10th (9-10-11! Cool, huh?). It was a beautiful wedding and we are SO happy for them! For those of you non-mormon readers, in our religion we don't get baptized until we are 8 years old..but when we are babies we receive a special baby blessing--usually given by the babies father or another priesthood holder. Well, since we were surrounded by our awesome family while we were in Utah we decided to do it there on September 11. Daniel gave Evalyn a beautiful blessing and it was a pretty incredible experience to be a part of. I have seen and heard so many of these precious baby blessings but can't describe how awesome it was to have it be my own daughters blessing! We were able to have a bishop come to our house so that we could do it there instead of at church. Here are some pictures of Ev's big day!
These 2 cuties are so adorable when it comes to taking care of their cousin!
Evalyn wore the dress that I wore when I was blessed 22 years ago! I love my mama for keeping it in pristine condition all these years!
Getting her dressed!
Love my baby girl.
The men in Evalyn's life..minus uncle Sean who had basically ran a marathon the day before and driven home all night long. He was getting some much needed rest! And of course Shane who got married the night before, and Uncle Brett who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Ev is a very lucky lady to be related to these men!
I love this picture. I just wish I wasn't in the background!
Evalyn in awe of Uncle Ryan. So sweet!

It was such a fun day spent with wonderful family. We love you ALL! Thank you for being a part of it!

One Month!

I can not believe it's been an entire month since our little girl made her big debute! Here are a few pictures of our cutie!

First Sunday going to church! August 28, 2011

Stats:
Height: 22 inches
Weight: 9 lbs 5 oz (best estimate we could get)
Likes: To EAT! She eats 5-6 oz each meal..crazy! She loves her hands, they're always flying around hitting herself and myself in the face. She likes to be held away from your body and bounced..sadly she's not a huge cuddler! She sleeps 4-5 hour stretches each night, has started smiling, and overall is a super happy baby!
Dislikes: Being swaddled, being held while sitting down, dirty diapers, getting her nose suctioned, pacifiers, and her carseat (I think we permanently ruined the carseat by driving to Utah when she was 5 days old)
Wears: Newborn diapers, size 0-3 month clothes..with a few newborns here and there. She is so long that her pajamas are all 3 months or she can't stretch out and gets mad :)

She is the light of our lives! We are so happy she joined our little family one month ago!

Nursery

I've meant to post this for weeks now! There are still a few things I want to do in Evalyn's nursery..but haven't had the chance yet. Eventually there will be a Simon Dewey portrait on the wall, and some family pictures of the 3 of us once they are taken. Until then, this is as good as it gets! (Sorry the lighting of the pictures is off. The walls are not orange, they're a golden/sandy brown)
Door to her room
The white curtains are lace..not sure if that shows here or not!
