Long Week

Oh man. This past week was a tough one for our little family. Daniel has had the past 2 weeks off of school (summer break) and he started back today. Yay for his first day of his THIRD year of dental school! Where has the time gone? SO proud of my husband! Anyway..back to the point.

At the end of every semester comes finals. With the insane amount of classes these dental students take every semester, it ends up being about 12 tests in 5 days (give or take 1-2 depending on the semester). The week before finals and finals week consist of Daniel getting about 3 hours of sleep a night on average, eating whenever he remembers to, and him being stressed to the MAX. It's not a fun week for either one of us to be honest. I dread finals week every semester..but I kinda dread the week after finals more. Without fail, the day after finals end, Daniel gets sick. Its always the same thing. Starts with a sore throat, then he gets a cold for a few weeks (basically during his whole break), and sometimes he will get the flu. This time was a liiiiittle different.

The first week of his break we were in training everyday for our new job. Going from finals straight to this didn't let Daniel get a break for a second, but as soon as training ended last Friday--the sickness started. It started as a sore throat..and a few days later we were in the emergency room. My poor husbands strep throat turned into a peritonsillar abscess..his throat was so swollen it was blocking half of his airway, he couldnt open his jaw, turn his neck even an inch to the left or right side, and pretty much hadn't eaten in 4 days. Being 9 months pregnant and trying to take care of him was suuuuper exhausting! Not to mention I was kinda freaking out not knowing what the crap was happening to him. Luckily after 2 days in the emergency room, loooots of vicodin, motrin, and antibiotics his abscess started to go away and he was a new person. My mom came down to help me take care of him and myself, but by the time she got here Daniel was feeling a billion times better. She still stayed and hung out with us for the weekend which was fun! We got pedicures and she did our laundry, went grocery shopping, etc. It was great to have her here..hopefully she will be back SOON cause im crossing my fingers for this little girl to arrive before her due date.

Watching someone you love be so sick is hard. This past week has made me so grateful for my health, smart doctors and modern medicine! Daniel started back at school today. Needless to say his "break" was terrible, but oh well. It's so fun to be able to say he is in his THIRD year! More than halfway done! Wahooooo! So crazy!

PS...3 weeks from tomorrow is my due date. What?!?
