We are super excited to let everyone know that we are expecting a little boy or girl to join our family this July! As of today, I am officially past 15 weeks and still waiting for the whole being sick all the time thing to go away. For so long I was counting down the days until week 14 so that I could stop feeling this way, but so far, no such luck. Oh well, a sick mom=healthy baby in my opinion, so I'll take it.
Let's back-track a bit. Back in November, I went down to Texas for my best friends engagement. She had no idea that I was going, and it was a super fun weekend. However, the whole time I was there I was wondering whether or not I was pregnant. I had mentioned to Katie that I might want to go to the store to get a pregnancy test, but with all of the craziness that was going on while I was there, we got a little side tracked and never went to the store. Probably a good thing too, cause I think Daniel might have been a tad upset if he wasn't there for the news :)
Well, I got home late Sunday night, and went to the store on the way to work in the morning because I couldn't wait any longer. As soon as I got to work I took a test and almost instantly it said positive. I was freaking out a little. I hurried and drank a water bottle so that I could take another test a few minutes later..and it was confirmed! I obviously couldn't wait until after work to tell Daniel, but I couldn't really call him either. I decided to take a picture of the positive sign on the test and email it to Daniel from my phone. He got the picture almost right away..looked at it for about two minutes...and it finally clicked as to what it was a picture of. (Boys!) He couldn't believe it. We were both super excited and went out to a fancy restaurant that night to celebrate the pregnancy as well as our 1 year 6 month wedding anniversary! It was a good day.
I am a little weird about telling people. Most girls I think would call their parents/inlaws right away, but I didn't want to tell anyone until I was at least 10 weeks, had been to the Dr., and had heard the heartbeat more than once. It was hard to not mention it to anyone, but we thought it would be best to share the news over Christmas break when we were there with both of our families. We got to Utah on the 18th, and told my family on the 19th. (Christmas wasn't till the end of the week...you try waiting that long :) It's a good thing that we told earlier than Christmas morning though, because I was on my death bed with the flu that week and had to keep calling my Dr. for medical advice. It would have been a tad difficult to hide that!
We had so many fun ideas on how to tell our families, but decided to go with one of the first ones that we thought of. Daniel and I had bought a new camera lens and tri-pod a few days before Utah, so we used that as an excuse to take a random family picture. Well, Daniel set the camera to take 10 continuous shots, and he pressed the button, ran back to the group, and said "Everyone say, Kylie's pregnant!" (Instead of say cheese). Well, that didn't work. My family laughed and kept smiling at the camera as Daniel said it over and over again. Finally I said "Okay, I don't think anyone is taking him seriously, but you should be cause it's true!" Out of ten pictures, there is one decent one. Boo on my family for being little space cadets.
Oh well, I was just so glad it was all out in the open. We decided to wait another week until we were with Daniels family to tell them. We were getting family pictures taken with his family (all 27 of them!) and decided NOT to try the same kind of thing. It was hard enough getting everyone to stay put in one place to take a family picture, I didn't want to make it even more difficult for the photographer. We put the ultrasound picture in an envelope with a blank piece of paper that said "Merry Christmas!" and handed it to Daniel's mom. We told her that it was her Christmas present and she should open it. She told us she would open it later. Umm...we think you should open it now :) After watching her begin to open it and then get distracted for about 4 minutes, she finally opened it, her jaw dropped and the tears began. It was a pretty exciting Christmas break for us :)
Our baby will be the 4th on my side and the 11th on Daniel's side. We will find out the sex of the baby in about 5 weeks..but we are guessing that it is a boy. Of course we would be SO excited for a girl also though! There are still no boys on my side and only 4 boys out of the 10 on Daniel's side, so the race is on for who can have the first ;)
We feel so blessed and are just praying that everything works out for our little one. After a horrible miscarriage last December, we are super excited to be pregnant again, but with this excitement comes lots of worry. We have faith though that everything will work out. At the Dr. last week we were told that we have a "perfectly developed child" which made us feel 100x better than ever! We are already so in love with our little miracle.
Thank you all for your prayers and support! We've got the best friends and family we could ever ask for. Bring on July!
