Last night, off and on the entire night, I was feeling some INTENSE heartburn. I've gotta say that I would much rather be nauseous all day anyday over that feeling! Alot of people that I know didn't get it until their third trimester..so I am wondering what the heck I am doing wrong here. I will say that its suppppper painful and SO uncomfortable it makes me wanna cry. Any tips or advice I can get to help this would be fabulous :) It's weird cause people have told me to eat healthy and not greasy foods and you wont get it...but I had salad and soup for dinner last night so that doesn't exactly add up!
I feel bad that I haven't documented this pregnancy at all. I know I will probably regret that in the future so I am going to try and do better. On the plus side, my sister in laws say heartburn gives your baby lots of hair on their head..so hopefully this burning makes for a cute baby with loaaaaads of hair! (but not too much.. :)
In my pregnancies I started off with TUMS but when it got too bad for TUMS my doctor prescribed prescription strength Pepcid. I also was prescribed Zantac once. They both worked great. Ask your doctor about that at your next appointment. Sleep propped up, and don't eat close to going to bed.
ReplyDeleteI wish that was true about the hair. I get heartburn really bad when pregnant and so far my first one was bald as can be. I guess we'll just have to wait and see with this one :) Tums and pepcid never worked for me so I finally mentioned to my doctor that I thought I would die from the pain. He recommended prevacid and it has worked wonders. For me, it doesn't matter what I eat, what time I eat, or anything else. I have heartburn almost constantly. Sorry you have to have it too. It is not fun at all. Congrats on the pregnancy though! I am so excited for you! You will be the best mommy and you will love every minute of it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, being pregnant totally sucks!! But, I hear it's totally worth it :) I've been reading this book, it's just a funny one about being pregnant and it said... "It really is a wonder that women can carry a baby; provide a safe home in which it can grow and develop; and when it's time, give birth to it. It is truly a miracle and a wonderful gift from God. Now keep this in mind whne you run out of breath walking to your car, you develop hemorrhoids, your ankles swell, and your back aches. Seriously, keep the wonder of it all in mind and remember it - or you'll end your day in tears." I couldn't help but laugh, it's so true...
ReplyDeletehahaha stina that quote is awesome! so funny and probably so true. im dreading all of those last trimester symptoms. you are so close to the end though!! yeah! so exciting!
ReplyDeletekatelyn and jess thanks so much for your advice. I am going to ask my dr next week at my appt what she can give me :)
hahahahahaaha! At least someone can share my hearburn pain. Ky didn't matter what I ate, I got heartburn so don't go giving up the good stuff. After Kaylee with Kennie I just would pop a Zantac in the morning as a precaution. Also to you and Stina pregnancy is hard sometimes but don't hate on it too much because before you know it you have a baby....enjoy the alone time while you can :)
